Assalaam Alakium!
My name is Kendell and I am an American convert to Islam. I converted July of 2008. I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I then moved to Houston, Texas in October of 2010 and live with my husband. No kiddos yet. =)
My family are Catholic, by name only. I didn't grow up in a religious household, I rarely ever went to church but I always had a need to learn about religion and the purpose of life. I would often beg my mom to take my brother and I to church. I felt like a piece of my life was missing. In high school I met some Muslim sisters and became fast friends with them. We would talk about religion off and on in short bursts and this is when I got my first "dose of Islam". I really started to look into Islam when I was 16. I received a Qur'an and read the entire thing. After reading the Qur'an and having most of my answers, answered within the pages I decided Islam was the truth. I studied for two years, learned how to pray, fasted two years and then finally took my shahada (deceleration of faith) in July of 2008.
Since then I have graduated with an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies, which I have not made a dime from. I work as a part-time data entry clerk at a neuropsychological clinic and I really like it. Psychological is a huge interest of mine and I often study psychology in my spare time.
I also love kids and anything associated with birth. You can often find me reading developmental psychology books or watching informational videos on birth. I love watching infants grow, it's truly a miracle.
I love Islam and spend a lot of my time researching and learning as much as I can about this wonderful way of life. I respect everyone's beliefs and I don't like confrontation.
Thanks for dropping by my blog! InshAllah this blog will be of benefit to you. Please feel free to share your experiences, suggestions and recommendations. I want this blog to be a resource for Muslims to come and learn. If you have any questions please ask, I'll be as open as I can be while still maintaining my privacy.
I look forward to making this blog a wonderful place for you all.
