The Monarch. Butterfly of the week!

The Monarch is one of the most popular types of butterfly in North America. With it's bright yellows and oranges it's hard not to stare at these amazing creatures! Every year in North America the Monarch's make their annual migration to Mexico. The migration can be tracked at various websites. The Monarch is the only butterfly that migrates north to south. The migration starts in August until the first frost. The migration lasts about two months, the lifespan of a butterfly.

If you love seeing Monarch butterfly's try planting these around your house:

  • Swamp Milkweed
  • Alfalfa
  • Lilac
  • Butterfly Weed
